You‘re in the Driver’s Seat

A valid Louisiana driver’s license qualifies you to enroll in the driveSafeLA.org - Defensive Driving course. The process is simple. In just five easy steps, you can begin to save lives and save money. They are:

1. Register for the course and create your personal account.
2. Complete the coursework.
3. Earn a passing score on the final final exam.
4. Receive your Certificate of Completion.
5. Submit your Certificate to your insurance provider.

Register for the Course

Create your user profile by entering your username, password, and user information. Next, you may enter your coupon code (when applicable) and personal billing information. You may use any credit card for secure online payment. Then, each time you log-on, you will be asked to verify your identity by entering your username and password. This is your electronic signature.

Coursework

There are five sections or modules of the drivesafeLA.org - Defensive Driving course. Each of the five modules includes a quick review. If you incorrectly answer a review question, you will be given an opportunity to re-examine that content before you to proceed to the next question.

The Final Exam

Once you have completed the drivesafeLA.org - Defensive Driving course, you are ready to take the final exam. The exam consists of 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions. You will need to correctly answer at least 80% of the questions in order to receive a passing score on the exam (20 correct answers).

If you don’t receive a passing score on your first attempt, don’t worry. You will be given an opportunity to review the questions with which you had difficulty. Then, when you’re ready, you will be given an opportunity to take a similar exam based on the material covered in the course. Remember, you have two attempts to receive a passing score.

Certificate of Completion

Congratulations! Once you receive a passing score on the final exam, your Certificate of Completion, which is approved by the Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance, may be printed from your desktop.

Your Certificate may then be presented to your insurance agent to confirm that you have successfully completed the course. This Certificate could qualify you for up to 10% savings on your insurance premiums. To learn the actual discount you are eligible for, please check with your insurance company or agent.

For your convenience, you will be able to access your drivesafeLA.org personal profile and print your Certificate for up to three years from the date you passed the final exam.

Points to Remember

1. From the registration date listed on your order confirmation, you have a three month grace period to complete your course, earn a passing score on your final exam, and receive your Certificate of Completion.
2. For your convenience, you are given two attempts to earn a passing score on the final exam.
3. For your protection, there is a "time-out" feature built into the final exam. When the computer senses inactivity for more than 20 minutes, your session expires and you are automatically logged off. If this occurs, simply log-on and retake the exam. Timed out sessions do not count as one of your two exam attempts.
